end of christmas

Oh sadness. Today I put away the Christmas decorations. The table where the tree was looks so empty now. I already miss looking at the advent calendar over on the silly wall. At least we have some pictures, right?

We spent Christmas in Colorado with the Reeses. Katie decided to move in to Oma's house a few days earlier. When we were getting ready to go home Sunday night - Christmas Eve eve - we asked Katie if she wanted to come home with us or stay at Oma's, and she promptly replied 'bye bye Mama, bye Dad!' We could here the 'Don't let the door hit you on your way out' in the background. As you can see from the photo album, we now have a toy store for Katie and Alex to play with. Now where to put it all, so that Roger doesn't do a toy audit!

The day after Christmas we drove down to New Mexico to spend some time with Roger's folks. What a drive! The kids did great, in spite of their colds. It was nice to spend some time with Granddad and Grandmother. Hopefully we didn't infect them while we were there. I was up a couple of nights with each kiddo - separately at least - with the flu, but now that we're home everyone seems to be on the mend.

Now that we're getting things back to normal, I guess it's time to start thinking about 'areas for improvement' for the new year . . . but we'll think about that another day.

Very cute pictures, Kat. I love Katie's fancy hat. Nice work. I see Alex is still happy and smiley. I wish I could have been there to play with you.

Nice photos. That is a good sized gash on Alex's little head at the end :)

we wish you - both - were here too! they are both getting to be so much fun to play with.
glad you like the gash on Alex's noggin. he woke up from a nap on my bed and got wiggly before he got chatty, so down he went. guess who's not sleeping on mom's bed anymore?

It was fun to be back there this year, playing with Katie and Alex. They are such happy little kids. And I have to say that the fact that one of the first things Katie asks when she gets to Oma and Opa's is "Where's Uncle Tom?" At least that's what mom told me...

Sorry we were dorks and didn't call over Christmas. We have a tendancy to get very involved in hanging out with the family, ya know rousing board games and bowling and what not. We make it to Longmont at least twice a year, so I am sure we will see you guys sooner rather than later. Glad you had such a great Chrtistmas!

It was great to see you and the little tikes too - glad you could stop by on your way south! We still have our Christmas stuff up because I don't feel like taking it down! But the super said if we don't bring our tree to the basement tomorrow we have to wait another week and the poor brittle thing won't last, so down it shall come. I admit that having a birthday 6 weeks after Christmas is just perfect timing for a little something to look forward to during the post holiday slump. Then Hazel's birthday is another 7 weeks after that, and since she's turning 3 we can start thinking about a real birthday party with invitations and friends - basically a glorified playgroup, but gives me something to plan and get excited about.

Hi Kat! I'm snooping from Betsy blog. I was so grateful to take my Christmas tree down, maybe I didn't enjoy Christmas so much this year because my parents are gone. Maybe my house is just too small for that big sucker. *hugs*

t - you'll be happy to know that katie STILL asks where uncle tom is! she's learning how to say 'ukraine.' :)

mia - no problem. family trips are always too crowded to fit in other people. glad you guys had a good visit in this fair city.

hey man - maybe that needs to be my next post. 'birthday parties right after christmas: how to make it fun without adding more and more stuff to my house!' since girlfriend is just turning 2, i'm thinking cupcakes with two other mom/kiddo pairs i like. too boring?

stephanie - HOORAY! now i can spy on you too! that would be strange having christmas without the folks. i can't believe you didn't make the trip to asia to be with them! :)
