It's been a week of projects! I finished painting the trim for Katie's new playhouse. If I had been thinking the slightest bit about color theory I would have started out with a slight yellow, but I had a brain lapse. Getting white for the trim actually worked out OK, because I painted the first coat and the inside white, and then added some yellow from the kitchen paint to warm it up a bit for the second coat. Turned out great. Now I just need to go back and touch up all my messy spots. :)
I FINALLY figured out how to hang the piece of handwork we got in South Korea 2.5 years ago! I was going to just go with a wooden dowel, but when I was outside poking around the garage looking for such an item I came across some copper pipe scrap. SO much more interesting than a plain dowel! One hour later, and the project was done and on the wall. I was hoping the wrinkles would fall out as it hangs, but I will probably break down and dust off the old iron to really finish it.
A friend of mine organized an Easter basket exchange, so I used that as an excuse to try a fun little project I had seen on Designmom. Who doesn't need fun magnets? And they couldn't be easier. I used SOBO glue instead of the smelly turbo silicon glue recommended on the notmartha site. This set is to make me jealous of Tom out traveling the world right now . . .
Last night Katie and I made 'tiny pies.' The pies turned out OK - I went for individual so we could have peach and blackberry in one baking fest - but not half as cute as my little princess helper, who couldn't get enough of the flour.

You are really making a case for us to pack up our family and move back to Boulder (I would love nothing more) and if we were, I would defintely contribute to any truffle making. I am so impressed by all of your projects. Especially the cute house! That is so awesome! Aren't you pregnant? You're not allowed to do all of that stuff and make the rest of us look bad! Just kidding. I think it is great. Maybe we will just have to settle on coming up and making a visit to Boulder next time we are in CO.
WOW! Your basket is going to be so dang cute. I love those magnets and I know for a fact I have never eaten a dessert of yours that I didn't love and have dreams about later! The play house is adorable. We drove by some kid sized log cabins today and Zoey now wants one.
serena - whatever i can do to encourage that move, you just let me know! there are plenty of biotech companies out here! and 13 weeks is a little different than 8 months - i have to work while i still have a little energy. :)
mia - i have to say, the truffles turned out pretty great. might be one of my best yet. you'll just have to come back out here too!
From my point of view, the caramel may slightly beat the dark raspberry, but not like much. The other was good too (they disappeared along with the others), but "white chocolate" is an oxymoron, and pistacios are NUTS, after all.
Geez Kat, I'm exhausted just reading your blog. how do you do it all! I'm sitting home tonight, maybe coloring my hair. Most definitely watching some episodes of BSG season three in anticipation of season four starting next month. that's about all I can do in one night. :)
betty - just know that i took the next week off. and reading about all those flights you were taking made ME exhausted! :)
Where are you at now? Are you guys in Boulder still?? Man, I didn't even realize you were so close!!! The truffles looked great!!
